This bursary supports students in key academic fields, ensuring they have the resources needed to succeed in their studies and future careers.
Who Can Apply?
The Astron Energy Special Skills Bursary is available to South African citizens under the age of 35 who are either currently in Matric or have already completed it. Applicants must be studying or planning to study full-time in one of the approved fields and must be enrolled at a registered South African university, private institution, community college, or TVET college. To qualify, candidates must be pursuing their qualification level for the first time and must have achieved a minimum overall average of 70% in their most recent academic year. Full-time employment status disqualifies applicants.
Fields of Study Supported by the Bursary
The bursary covers a wide range of in-demand disciplines, ensuring students receive the support needed to enter fields critical to South Africa’s economic growth.
The Commerce Stream includes students pursuing degrees in Project Management, Business Administration, Property Studies, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Digital Marketing, and Human Resources Management. A BCom degree is preferred for applicants in this stream.
The Data Analysis and IT Stream supports students in Mathematical Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, and Big Data Analytics. This category focuses on data-driven industries, where specialized skills are in high demand.
The Engineering Stream offers bursaries for students studying Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering. Accepted qualifications include BSc or BEng programs, while BEng Tech programs are not eligible.
The Environmental Stream covers Environmental Studies, Sustainability, Climate Change, and Sustainable Development. This aligns with Astron Energy’s commitment to fostering sustainability and environmental responsibility.
The Finance Stream provides funding for students in Accounting, Financial Modeling, Internal Auditing, and Economics. Similar to the Commerce category, a BCom degree is preferred for finance applicants.
The Science Stream supports students pursuing Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, and Natural Sciences with a focus on Mathematics. Only BSc programs qualify under this category.
