Eskom Engineering Bursaries
ESKOMEskom is now accepting applications for its 2025 bursary program, dedicated to developing skilled talent for South Africa’s energy sector. This bursary provides financial assistance to students pursuing engineering qualifications, ensuring that the country continues to produce top-tier professionals in critical fields.
Fields of Study Eligible for Eskom Bursaries
Eskom bursaries will be awarded to students at both university and university of technology levels. A total of 138 bursaries will be granted: 79 for university studies and 59 for diplomas at universities of technology.
For University Studies , Eskom will fund students in Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current and Light Current), Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, and Metallurgy Engineering.
For University of Technology Studies (Diploma), the bursary covers Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current and Light Current), Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, and Surveying Engineering.
Benefits of the Eskom Bursary
This bursary provides full financial support, including tuition fees, accommodation, meals, textbooks, and study materials. In addition, recipients will receive a monthly stipend to assist with living expenses. Students will also gain practical experience and training within Eskom’s various engineering divisions, ensuring they are well-prepared for their careers.
Eskom Bursary Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for this highly competitive bursary, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Applicants must be South African citizens and currently in Matric (Grade 12) in 2024. A minimum Level 4 in English, Pure Mathematics, and Physical Science in Grade 11 finals is required. Candidates must have a conditional acceptance to study at an accredited South African university in 2025. Only full-time students pursuing one of the approved qualifications will be considered.
Applicants must not currently hold any other bursary or be registered at a tertiary institution. Preference may be given to candidates from designated groups, in line with Eskom’s employment equity goals. Students with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
