Fields of Study
Bursaries are available for students pursuing BSc, BEng, BCom, or BIS degrees at the Bachelor's, Honours, Masters, or Doctorate levels in the following fields:
- Computer and Software Engineering
- Computer Science
- Game Design
- Informatics
- Information Technology
What The Bursary Covers
The bursary will cover university tuition fees and provide a monthly allowance for living expenses and incidentals. In addition to financial support, students will receive mentorship throughout their studies.
- Annual Workshop: BBD bursary recipients are required to attend a week-long onsite workshop annually. This Vac Week workshop involves group projects using the latest technology to create practical solutions.
- Practical Experience: Gain hands-on experience and exposure to various technologies and tools.
- Graduate Programme: After graduation, students will join the BBD Graduate Programme and work on real project teams.
Eligibility Requirements For BBD Bursary
- South African citizenship
- Currently in Matric or completed Matric
- Accepted or studying towards a qualification in one of the listed fields
- Enrolled or accepted at a recognized and accredited University in South Africa
- Minimum overall average of 70% in Matric (if currently in Matric)
- Minimum overall average of 65% for tertiary studies (if currently studying)
- Passion for technology and software development
