Canon Collins RMTF Scholarship South Africa 2025

Canon Collins Trust Postgraduate Scholarships:

Overview: Canon Collins Trust, in partnership with the Ros Moger and Terry Furlong group, invites applications for postgraduate study in South Africa for 2025. This scholarship honors the memory of Ros and Terry, inspirational London educationalists, with funds raised by friends and family since 2001.

Purpose of the Bursary: The Canon Collins Trust, in collaboration with RMTF, seeks to support exceptional individuals committed to social justice in southern Africa. A postgraduate qualification is viewed as an essential tool for creating an open and just society.

Eligible Study Areas for 2025:

1. Justice: Climate Justice, Law, Economics, and Politics
2. Education: Policy and Practice
3. Humanities: Literature, History, Anthropology, and the Arts

Eligibility Criteria:

• Be a national of, or have refugee status in, one of the following countries: Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Swaziland, Zambia
• Be normally resident in one of the above countries
• Possess a good first degree (minimum second class, upper division or equivalent) or be about to graduate in the year of application
• Be studying or applying to study at a South African university

Scholarship Details:

• Funding for up to two years for Masters and three years for PhD
• Scholarship package value ranges from R20,000 to R100,000 depending on student circumstances
• Support for both full-time and part-time study, including distance learning
• Annual conference for current scholars and several smaller events throughout the year

• Shortlisted applicants will be interviewed in October/November 2024
• Notification of application outcomes by December 2024
