This bursary programme is designed to support talented South African youth from previously disadvantaged communities, enabling them to pursue studies in Commerce and Information Technology, two sectors that are critical to the nation’s development.

Eligibility Requirements for the ITHUBA Bursary
To qualify for the ITHUBA Bursary, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must be a South African citizen
- Must be in Matric or have completed Matric
- Must be studying or planning to study within a listed field in 2025
- Must be accepted or provisionally accepted at an accredited South African tertiary institution
- Must have a minimum 70% in each subject and an overall average of 70% in the previous academic year
- Must specialize in a Commerce or IT field
- Must demonstrate a dedication to academic success and maintaining a strong record
- Must come from a previously disadvantaged background with a household income not exceeding R350,000 per year
- Must align with the values of the ITHUBA Foundation, showing commitment, enthusiasm, and a vision to contribute positively to their community
Required Supporting Documentation
Ensure to upload clear, certified copies of the following documents with your online application (applications missing any document may not be considered):
- Certified ID copy
- Certified Matric results/certificate
- Certified latest academic transcript if currently studying
- Proof of provisional admission/acceptance at a tertiary institution on official letterhead
- Proof of admission for residency or private accommodation on official letterhead
- Certified copies of parents’ or guardians’ ID documents
- Latest proof of household income for parents/guardians (payslip, employment letter, or affidavit for informal employment or unemployment)
- SASSA letter if applicable
- A motivational letter detailing why you are a deserving candidate for the bursary, including your goals and commitment to giving back to the community
