The Local Government Sector Education and Training Authority (LGSETA) is offering the Discretionary Grants Bursary for the 2024/2025 academic year, aiming to support individuals interested in the local government sector.

Who Can Apply for the LGSETA Bursary?

Eligible applicants include:

• South African citizens and permanent residents
• University, University of Technology, and TVET College students (NATED programs) or Grade 12 learners accepted into higher learning institutions
• Students accepted or provisionally accepted for courses relevant to the local government sector
• Applicants focusing on fields aligned with local government priority occupations, service delivery areas, and support functions
• Students pursuing qualifications listed under LGSETA’s supported programs (details available on the LGSETA website)
• Full-time students only

How to Apply for the LGSETA Bursary

To apply:

• Visit the LGSETA website at LGSETA
• Navigate to the Services tab, select DG Bursary under the Learners section, and click on the link for the 2024-2025 bursary.
• Complete the online application form and upload all required supporting documents.

Important Submission Information

• Each application must be submitted individually through the LGSETA Microsoft Forms system, per the guidelines on the website. Applications sent by email or hand-delivered will not be accepted.
• The application window opens on 3 November 2024 at 8:00 am and closes on 30 November 2024 at 11:59 pm. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

• Bursary allocations depend on funding availability, and LGSETA reserves the right to cancel the funding window.
