Overview: The Department of Infrastructure is inviting applications for the Masakh’iSizwe Bursary Programme for the 2025 academic year. The bursary aims to support students pursuing studies in the Transport, Engineering, and Built Environment sector.

- Electrical Engineering (Heavy current)
- Geomatics
- Mechanical Engineering
- Property Studies
- Quantity Surveying
- Town/City and Regional Planning
- Transport Economics/Studies
Bursary Coverage:
- Tuition fees
- Prescribed textbooks
- Prescribed study materials
- Support programmes
- Accommodation and meals (or transport costs)

Requirements:
- South African citizen
- Currently in Matric or completed Matric
- Intend to study full-time towards a Degree or Diploma in one of the specified fields in 2025
- Studying or accepted to study at UCT, SU, or CPUT
- Preference given to financially disadvantaged students, female students, students with disabilities, and students from the Western Cape
Required Documents:
- Certified copy of ID document
- Certified copy of most recent Matric results (if currently in Matric)
- Certified copy of Matric certificate (if completed)
- Certified copy of full academic record (if at tertiary level)
- Proof of registration or application at UCT, SU, or CPUT
- Full course outline for 2025 academic year
- Study cost estimate for 2025 academic year
- Proof of residential address (recent account or utility bill)
- Certified copies of parents or guardians' ID documents/death certificates
- Proof of parents or guardians' income (latest payslips, affidavit if unemployed, SASSA grant or pension proof)
- Motivational letter (with tips on how to write a motivational letter for a bursary application)
- Proof of any existing debt (if applicable)
- Proof of any other financial aid received (if applicable)
- Medical proof of disability (if applicable)
- Police clearance certificate (if you have a criminal record)
Important Notes:
- Shortlisted candidates will be contacted by 14 February 2025. If you do not receive feedback by then, consider your application unsuccessful.
- Bursary recipients may be required to attend workshops, events, meetings, academic experiential training, and outreach programmes during weekends.
- Upon graduation, recipients employed by the Department of Infrastructure will undergo a Professional Development Training Programme for professional registration.
