Fields of Study Supported

The bursary is open to undergraduate students pursuing studies in the following disciplines:

Fully Funded Qualifications:

  • Electrical Engineering
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Environmental Engineering
  • Robotics and Advanced Control
  • Mechanical Engineering

Partially Funded Qualifications (up to R50,000):

  • Biotechnology
  • Information Technology
  • Microbiology
  • Environmental Studies
  • Biochemistry

 

What Does the Bursary Cover?

Successful applicants will receive comprehensive financial support, which includes:

  • Full Tuition Fees for fully funded qualifications.
  • Funding of up to R50,000 for partially funded qualifications.
  • Prescribed Books and essential stationery.
  • A Laptop for academic use.
  • A Monthly Stipend to cover living expenses.
  • Accommodation at a recognized institution.

 

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the Rand Refinery Bursary, applicants must meet these requirements:

  • Citizenship: Be a South African citizen.
  • Age: Be between the ages of 18 and 25 years.
  • Academic Level: Be in your 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year of study.
  • Institution: Be enrolled at a recognized South African university or university of technology.
  • Academic Performance: Maintain a minimum aggregate of 70% in your current or most recent results.
