South African Reserve Bank External Bursary Scheme for Undergraduate Studies
Overview: The South African Reserve Bank (SARB) offers bursaries to Grade 12/Matric pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds to pursue full-time undergraduate studies that align with the functions and activities of the SARB.
What the South African Reserve Bank Does: The SARB serves South Africa by maintaining price and financial stability. It regulates the financial sector, manages interest rates, designs currency, and ensures banking sector stability.
Purpose of the Bursary: To address skills shortages, SARB provides bursaries to needy Grade 12/Matric pupils for undergraduate studies. This supports SARB's corporate social initiatives and External Bursary Scheme.
Requirements to Qualify for the Bursary:
- Provisional acceptance into an undergraduate degree at a South African university
- Achieved an average pass mark of 70% in June Grade 12/Matric exams (final award subject to final results)
- Younger than 30 years of age
- Demonstrated financial need (unable to afford university without a bursary)
