The Eastern Cape Department of Education (ECDOE) is now accepting applications for its prestigious Bursary Programme for the 2025 academic year. This opportunity aims to support aspiring educators in pursuing teaching qualifications at the undergraduate level or Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE).

Bursary Focus Areas
Funding is available for studies in the following educational phases and priority subjects:
- Foundation Phase (Grades R – 3)
- Intermediate Phase (Grades 4 – 6)
- Senior / FET Phase (Grades 7 – 12)
Priority subjects include languages (English, Afrikaans, IsiXhosa, Sesotho), Mathematics, Sciences, Technology, and specialized areas such as Braille, SASL, and Neurodevelopmental Needs.
Bursary Coverage
The comprehensive bursary package includes:
- Registration and administration fees
- Tuition fees
- Prescribed textbooks
- Compulsory levies
- Meals and on-campus residence
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- South African citizenship
- Age between 18 and 35 years
- Eastern Cape residency
- Matric student or graduate with Bachelor pass
- Pursuing full-time undergraduate or PGCE qualification in education
- Enrolled or intending to enroll at an accredited Eastern Cape university
- Committed to a teaching career
- Unemployed status
Preference given to financially needy students with strong academic records.
