Eskom is now accepting applications for 2025 bursaries aimed at developing skilled talent for South Africa's energy sector. This bursary program offers financial support to students across various engineering disciplines.
Fields of Study Eligible for Eskom Bursaries
Eskom bursaries will be awarded based on the following study levels:
University Studies (BEng / BSc)
- Chemical Engineering
- Civil Engineering
- Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current)
- Electrical Engineering (Light Current)
- Industrial Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Mechatronics Engineering
- Metallurgy Engineering
University of Technology Studies (Diploma)
- Chemical Engineering
- Civil Engineering
- Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current)
- Electrical Engineering (Light Current)
- Mechanical Engineering
- Mechatronics Engineering
- Surveying Engineering
Eskom will award 138 bursaries: 79 for university studies and 59 for University of technology diplomas.

Eskom Bursary Eligibility Requirements
To qualify, applicants must meet these requirements:
- Be a South African citizen
- Currently, be in Matric (Grade 12) in 2024
- Achieved a minimum Level 4 for English, Pure Mathematics, and Physical Science in Grade 11 finals
- Have a conditional acceptance to study at a recognized and accredited university in South Africa in 2025
- I intend to study full-time towards one of the above qualifications
- Not currently hold any other bursary funding or be registered at a tertiary institution
- Preference may be given to applicants from designated groups (in alignment with Eskom's employment equity goals)
- Students with disabilities are encouraged to apply
