Sasol Mining Fence-line Bursary Programme Overview: Sasol Mainstream offers performance-based bursaries with a work-back/pay-back obligation. These bursaries are intended for talented individuals pursuing full-time undergraduate studies in selected Engineering, Science, and Technology qualifications.
Eligibility:
- Open exclusively to South African citizens.
- Available to students from Sasol Mining Fenceline communities enrolled in their first to fourth year at a South African public university or University of Technology.
Fields of Study: Applicants may apply for Bachelor's degree programmes in the following fields (excluding diplomas):
- Electrical Engineering
- Electronic Engineering
- Geology (Honours degree mandatory)
- Industrial Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Mining Engineering
- Mine Surveying (University of Johannesburg only)
Application Criteria:
- First-year applicants must provide Grade 11/12 results.
- Second-year applicants must submit first-year results.
- Third-year applicants must submit second-year results.
- Fourth-year applicants must submit third-year results.
- Minimum academic requirements apply:
- For B.Eng. and B.Sc.Eng: Mathematics (70-79%), Physical Science (70-79%), English (60-69%).
- For B.Eng. Tech.: Mathematics (60-69%), Physical Science (60-69%), English (60-69%).
Additional Requirements:
- Applicants must be registered full-time for their degree in 2024 at an accredited South African University.
- UNISA studies are not eligible, except for Mine Surveying.
- Shortlisted candidates must undergo online psychometric testing.
- Proof of permanent home residence and academic record from the start of studies to 2024 are required.
Conditions:
- Bursaries require completion of studies within a maximum of 5 years.
- Dual/combined/hybrid degree programs are ineligible.
- False applications or failure to meet requirements may lead to bursary termination.
Application Timeline:
- Deadline for applications: 31 July.
- Notification of application status by end of November.
